About Us

We, the '6-CAR Family' are:

Joy who has worked in computing for more than 45 years, the majority of that time as an educator and researcher. She was recognized internationally for her research into reasons for the under-representation of women in technical fields and their under-representation generally in senior positions in the workforce.

Outside of work, with her husband Barrie she built a house and also a 37’ yacht which they sailed up the east coast of Australia. Joy raised a son, did a lot of part time study and was a major contributor in a local women’s service organization.

Currently, in addition to her network marketing activities, she runs a small computer support business for mainly retired clients. She also provided computer, office and bookkeeping support for a local winery.

Since ‘retiring’, Joy has also taught computing to seniors and her first experience with network marketing was demonstrating a kitchen device that is a replacement for almost everything in the kitchen.

While food and cooking have been a lifetime hobby, Joy finds that her current network marketing company takes much less time and effort, and the products are much easier to ‘sell’ and also are a supplement to her current computer support business.

Network marketing fits with her previous research interests in that it provides an opportunity for women to become financially independent within the constraints of raising a family. It also provides an absorbing interest, camaraderie and the potential for ongoing financial security.

Barrie has a computing background, going back even further than Joy's. He has retired from working as a computer professional. He wrote his first computer program back when computers filled an entire room. He was a computing professor for a number of years and at the time of his retirement was Director of Computing and Communications Services at a university. In that role, he was a member of the policy making committee that formulated standards for the first commercial use of the Internet in Australia.

Barrie grew up when real boys studied technical subjects, so at school he was presented with the idea that it was usual for ordinary people to make and do things for themselves. Because he finished schooling at year 10, to earn his higher degree qualifications he had to study part time for many years.

Barrie has undertaken a lot of projects in his lifetime some small like making a Mirror sailing dinghy from a kit and some large like moving into a partly finished house and then completing it around the family as they lived there. Spending 9 years building a 13 ton boat in the backyard was a big project.

Barrie now spends his outdoors relaxation time on the golf course and like most golfers regrets that he didn't start playing sooner. Barrie is downline from Joy in their network marketing team. He does a lot of the back office tasks.
